Talent On Display

I saw this image on the Designs By JuJu Facebook page and it certainly speaks to the theme of this post. My wonderful quilt group the Needle Nellies met this week and most of us brought the gifts we received in our annual Christmas gift exchange to the meeting so that we could all get more of a close up look at the artistry of each item. During the Christmas party itself we're just too busy talking and opening gifts to really appreciate each one. Our 20 members have been together now for 18 years so we know each other pretty well so each gift really is personal and speaks to the recipients taste.

Table runner, pot holders and cute holiday tree hanging made by Jeannie.

Appliqued wall hanging with three dimensional velvet flowers made by Kathleen.

Very detailed counted cross stitch made by Patty.

Snowy triptych scene made by Natalie.

You've all seen these pieces made by yours truly.

Beautiful pieced quilt made by Suzanne.

Applique table runner made by Kathy.

Christmas wallhanging made by Dorothy.

Just had to show you the wonderful bias stem made from plaid fabric. Such a great idea.

Life like applique floral wallhanging. I don't remember who made this one it could have been anyone in our talented group.

My gift from Kathy M.
As the opening graphic says - every artist was first an amateur. When we all answered an ad in the Georgetown Gazette calling for women interested in learning to quilt 18 years ago we were all rank beginners. Over the years we've supported and encouraged each other to learn and grow not only in our quilting skills but in so much more. Thank Heaven For Girlfriends!

Nothing much on my design wall today so I'm linking this eye candy to Design Wall Monday instead.

Until next time,

  1. Any one of these pieces would be a gift to be cherished. The set you made is gorgeous and the one you received is beautiful, as well. It is such a "happy" winter scene! I am hoping your week ahead will be blessed!
