How Lucky Can I Get?

I don't want the new year to get any older before I tell you about my good fortune. Back in December Michelle at Michelle's Romantic Tangle held a 12 Days of Christmas Mystery Giveaway and I was one of the super lucky winners. Since I am a died in the wool mystery fan this was a no brainer to enter and the day I chose to enter featured a giveaway of Death of a Schoolgirl, The Jane Eyre Chronicles by Joanna Campbell Slan an author and series completely new to me.

I won a copy of the book and I can hardly wait to dive in. Jane Eyre has always been one of my personal favorites. As a child I always felt that this fictional heroine and I were somehow related (can you guess that I was a somewhat dramatic child?)

This brings up an idea I've been kicking around. I'm thinking of starting a books page on this blog where I'll list books I've read I think you all might enjoy. I must warn you though that my taste runs to murder and I don't necessarily go for a nice happy ending. What do you think?

Thanks Michelle for the giveaway and I'm so happy I found a fun and interesting new quilt blog to follow too.

Until next time,

  1. Congrats!

The book page sounds great. Sounds like I am on the same page as you for books. No pun intended. ;)

    1. I'll share my reads if you share yours. One of my faves right now is Girl Gone by Gillian Flynn. Very dark but so well written. Not for the faint of heart.

  2. Congratulations on your win. Even though I'm not a huge reader of murder mysteries, I think a book page is a good idea.

  4. I love the idea! I love to read. This summer I completed the Inspector Lynley series, and I am currently reading The Barbarian Nurseries: A Novel. It is a very eye opening, thought provoking contemporary novel set in Southern California. I love all books except I'm not much interested in fantasy or science fiction. I'm always looking for a good book!

    1. Hi Mrs. S.
I love the Inspector Lynley series. Did you know that PBS did a whole series based on those books? I'm sure you can get them through Netflix or Netflix streaming. I have a good book for you - Girl Gone by Gillian Flynn - wow! Be warned though the characters are not nice!

  5. We actually watched the series before I read the book. I just finished DEATH OF A SCHOOLGIRL! I will check out Girl Gone. I also just finished a series of books by Sara Donati called the wilderness series. It starts with INTO THE WILDERNESS. Not great literature but entertaining. Set in post revolutionary America.
